Kansas psychiatrist Anita M. Anderson's license placed on inactive status
November 21, 2013
On June 20, 2013, the Kansas Board of Healing Arts placed psychiatrist Anita M. Andersen’s license on inactive status by her request.
Andersen had entered into a Consent Order with the Kansas board in 2008.
The basis of the order was an Agreement for Corrective Action which she entered into the Minnesota Medical Board in 1993, based on
Andersen’s self report of being dependent on alcohol; experiencing periods of depression and anxiety and self-medicating with Xanax.
Terms of the corrective action included abstinence from alcohol and mood-altering chemicals unless prescribed by a physician aware of her drug use history.
Andersen was arrested in September 2007 for driving under the influence. The current Kansas order is heavily redacted, making it difficult to determine what the exact charge against her were.
