August 11, 2012
On November 18, 2011 psychiatrist Michael L. Moeller entered into an agreement with the Iowa Board of Medicine, placing him on probation for three years, subject to counseling and board monitoring of his practice. Moeller was charged by the Board in August 2011 with making inappropriate statements to a patient and for attempting to initiate an inappropriate relationship with the mother of a child to whom he had provided counseling. The Board also charged him with failing to disclose that he was being investigated by another state licensing board on a renewal application he submitted to the Iowa Board in February 2011. In addition to the reprimand, the Board also fined Moeller $5,000.
