Indiana phychologist surrenders license to practice in the state of New York

On May 23, 2006, Indiana psychologist Jerome A. Cerny surrendered his license to practice in the state of New York. Dr. Cerny, formerly a professor of abnormal psychology and human sexuality at Indiana State University (ISU), had his license revoked by that state in 2003 for professional misconduct, following allegations of sexual misconduct.

In mid-2003, an ISU student filed a lawsuit against Cerny, alleging that Cerny entered a room at the University where a sexuality experiment was being conducted, touched the student in an offensive manner and verbally harassed him. It also stated that ISU had notice of similar abuse of students as early as 1997 and the University failed to fire Cerny or take effective corrective action to properly supervise Cerny's conduct and protect students.
