Former psychiatrist in the Philippines arrested for extortion
April 5, 2018
Police in the Philippines arrested a retired psychiatrist of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and her sister-in-law. They will be charged with robbery with extortion.
The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) identified the suspects as former superintendent Resiliana Lee Gilboy, 49, and Fatima Gilboy, 45.
A male BJMP applicant went to the CIDG office and complained that a BJMP doctor sent a text message and called him, asking for money in order for him to be certified as having passed the BJMP neurological examination. The psychiatrist asked for the equivalent of a one-month salary for a Jail Officer 1. Police accompanied the complainant when he met with the sisters and caught them in the act of accepting the money.
Police said the two suspects did not resist arrest but in spite of being caught in the act, the two women denied the allegations against them.
