Former New York psychiatrist convicted of hiding body in backyard back in jail

January 18, 2018

William Lewek, a psychiatrist who several years ago was convicted of hiding a body in his backyard, is back in Monroe County Jail.

News10NBC confirmed Lewek was arrested on a parole violation on Jan. 9. It is unknown at this time what he did to violate his parole.

In October 2013, officers found Matthew Straton's body in Lewek's backyard. He told police that Straton died of an overdose at his home and that he buried him instead of calling police. Lewek pleaded guilty in 2014 to tampering with physical evidence.

On Dec. 21, Lewek was released from the Fishkill Correctional Facility.

I am closely connected with someone who was under this person's "care" for several years beginning in the mid 90's.

How unfortunate to trust a 'doctor' who then turns out to be more severely mentally/emotionally damaged than his patients.

Yes, compensation is being sought in copious amounts.

Peace To All
