May 22, 2012
On May 22, 2012, the Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage & Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling suspended the license of clinical social worker Larissa K. Humiston for one year for sexual misconduct.
According to the Board’s Order, in August 2011, Humiston began treating patient “BW,” a 37-year-old male she met on the dating website “Match.com” and whom she had dated from May through July 2011.
She counseled him on issues related to dating.
Humiston resumed dating BW in November 2011, while she was still treating him.
In late November, Humiston and BW exchanged numerous text messages with BW, including one in which Humiston indicated that she wanted BW to come to her house and engage in sexual activity.
Suspension of her license is to be followed by one year of probation with terms and conditions including supervision of her practice by a Department-approved supervisor.
