Emmett G. Cooper reprimanded by Ohio Medical Board

On May 11, 2011 the Medical Board of Ohio reprimanded psychiatrist Emmett G. Cooper based on allegations that he failed to complete and maintain accurate medical records concerning his prescribing of controlled substances to three patients. 

According to the Board’s document, in one case, Cooper prescribed the tranquilizer Xanax to a colleague over an approximately 10-year period during which he failed to keep a record and those prescriptions for which he did keep a record were actually not accurate (i.e. the record stated, for instance that he prescribed 30 tablet with no refills but pharmacy records show he’d prescribed 60 tablets with two refills).

The other two cases did not contain a similar scenario except for a general lack of patient records.
