DEA Raids Office of Disgraced Former Fox News Psychiatrist Keith Ablow

February 14, 2020

Former celebrity psychiatrist and TV personality Keith Ablow's office was raided by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency on Thursday, however, he was not arrested nor charged with a crime.

The DEA raid started at approximately 7 a.m. at Ablow's office in Newburyport, Massachusetts, and remained there until 1 p.m. Agents removed paperwork and computers, according to The Newburyport Daily News. The DEA has not revealed what agents were looking for, but told the paper it was a court-authorized federal search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation.

"All of a sudden there were probably seven or eight DEA and police in their jackets coming out with many different sizes of boxes that were all had evidence on them and were taped up," a witness who did not want to be identified told Boston's WBZ. "Then they were bringing out a couple of computer screens."

The Daniel Lynch Pharmacy in the same town was also raided, however the DEA refused to comment to the paper about that raid, or say if it was related.

DEA agents raided the office of former TV personality and celebrity psychiatrist Keith Ablow on Thursday.

Ablow, 58, had his Massachusetts medical license suspended in May 2019, after he had been accused of prescribing medication to his office staff and asking his staff to share drugs with him, according to the Boston Globe. The state medical board said Ablow had prescribed one of his employees—who started as an intern and became his executive assistant and office manager—Adderall 27 times. Adderall is a controlled substance, which the DEA says has a "high potential for abuse with severe psychological or physical dependence."

He was also accused of prescribing Adderall and Clonazepam, which is also a controlled drug, to another employee. He was ultimately accused of illegally prescribing medications to eight of his employees and five patients. Ablow denies wrongdoing and is appealing the decision; a hearing is scheduled for April 7.

Ablow has also been accused of inappropriate sexual relationships with four former patients in lawsuits filed in early 2019. The patients accused him of initiating sexual relationships with them and providing them the drug Ketamine to treat their depression. The women said Ablow would strike them with a belt, and told one woman "I own you," and "You are my slave." Ablow denied the allegations, and the the suits were settled out of court.

Ablow was a contributor to Fox News until 2017 as part of the "Medical A-Team." He has argued in favor of "conversion therapy," which claims to be able to "cure" homosexuality or transgenderism. He has also written a number of books, and testified in high-profile murder trials as a witness for the defense.
