A practicing Yonkers psychiatrist whose office is in White Plains is facing federal charges.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Brooklyn, 65-year-old Dr. Marc Laruelle is charged with illegally prescribing highly addictive controlled substances to patients between September 2018 and last month.
A complaint says he knew that the drugs - including oxycodone, Adderall and Xanax - would be distributed to others.
Laruelle is an Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at Columbia University and was formerly a psychiatry professor at Yale.
Laruelle is scheduled to be arraigned in federal court in Brooklyn.
