Child psychologist sentenced to 16 years for committing lewd acts with a minor

Dr. John William "Bill" Visher, a 70-year-old child psychologist in California, was sentenced to 16 years in prison.  

He was originally arrested in September 2012 after an investigation of suspected sexual abuse.  He was charged with 16 felony counts of lewd acts involving minors for more than a decade.  One of his victims was an 8-year-old girl. He also had about 1,200 images of "extreme" child pornography.  

He pleaded guilty to seven counts of child molestation and one count of possessing child pornography.
