Board restricts psychologist Margaret Gwin

On July 9, 2013, the Idaho Board of Psychologist Examiners ordered psychologist Margaret Gwin to not use any tests which have not been forensically assessed and to obtain informed consent from all teenage clients prior to releasing any information to parents or third parties.

The Board found that in June and July 2008, Gwin became involved in a child custody proceeding to do a mental assessment on the involved minor child, who was old enough that Gwin should have obtained a consent form.

Additionally, in her report to the court, she made reference to several tests she conducted on the minor—none of which were psychometric devices that met standards for a psychological assessment.

She additionally was required to reimburse the Board its investigation costs and attorney fees and was also required to complete continuing education in the area of ethics.
