Board places psychiatrist Lee Brauer on probation for inappropriate prescribing
July 20, 2011
On December 21, 2010, the Connecticut Medical Examining Board placed the license of psychiatrist Lee Brauer on probation for one year for failures to uphold the standard of care in the treatment of one patient.
According to the Board’s Consent Order, between April 2007 and October 2009, Brauer “inappropriately prescribed excessive doses of Ritalin 20mg tablets; failed to appropriately prescribe non-psychiatric medications, including Oxycodone and Fiorinal; and/or failed to adequately treat the patient’s drug dependence in a timely manner and/or in an appropriate setting.”
Conditions of his probation include, among other things, acquiring a Board-approved physician to monitor his practice.
