Board issues cease & desist order on psychologist Susan Fuls

On February 4, 2013, the New Jersey Board of Psychological Examiners issued an order to psychologist Susan Fuls to: cease and desist from making statements that suggest that facts were her direct observation when she obtained information from collateral sources; cease and desist from misrepresentations; and shall accurately portray her treatment and interaction with clients in correspondence.

The Board’s document states that Fuls wrote a letter to a police department regarding a former patient, urging them to have him screened at a psychiatric center, claiming he was an imminent danger to himself and his two young children.

She also wrote to a judge, urging the broadening of an existing restraining order against the man. However, her urgings were not based on information she observed first-hand in the present; she had counseled the man once—three months earlier—and got her alarming info from collateral sources, such as the man’s mother-in-law.
