Board charges psychiatrist Bruce Bienenstock with sexual misconduct

On August 3, 2012, the Medical Board of California issued and Accusation against psychiatrist Bruce Bienenstock for sexual misconduct, gross negligence, repeated negligent acts and failure to keep accurate medical records. The Board’s document details that, among other things, Bienenstock prescribed a patient an antidepressant and an anxiolytic but did not chart why the dose was increased (antidepressant) or why the drug was started (anxiolytic) and that he engaged in sexual conduct with the patient.
