New South Wales Psychiatrist Keith V. Paisley Prohibited from Providing Health Services for 5 Years; Engaged in Sex with Patient

July 27, 2023

On July 24, 2023 the New South Wales Civil and Administrative Tribunal issued and order prohibiting Granville psychiatrist Keith V. Paisley from providing any health services for five years. The Tribunal also ordered that if Paisley were still registered (he has allowed his license to lapsed while under investigation), he would have been suspended for five years.

Paisley admitted that he had a sexual relationship with a female patient. He also inappropriately attempted to engage in conduct to intimidate the patient to withdraw her complaint against him for sexual assault, which she had filed with the New South Wales Police. He offered her $5,000 to withdraw the complaint.

On January 20, 2020, Paisley was arrested and charged with doing an act or making an omission intending to pervert the course of justice. He pleaded guilty and on May 8, 2020 was sentenced to 18 months’ incarceration, which was to be served in the community by way of an Intensive Correction Order.
