Kentucky and Tennessee Medical Boards Discipline Psychiatrist Gladys Gregory; Offered Patients Discounts for New Referrals

On May 21, 2022, the Kentucky Board of Medical Licensure ordered that the license of psychiatrist Gladys Gregory be restricted for an indefinite period of time for offering discounts to patients in exchange for recruitment of other patients. 

This discipline was based on an earlier disciplinary action taken upon Gregory by the Tennessee Board of Medical Examiners, where Gregory is also licensed. 

On September 22, 2021, the Tennessee Board found that Gregory had violated the Tennessee Medical Practice Act by offering discounts to patients in exchange for the recruitment of other patients. The Tennessee Board issued a Letter of Warning and ordered her to pay a $500 fine and further ordered that she must enroll and successfully complete a two-day medical course entitled “Medical Ethics, Boundaries and Professionalism.”

The Kentucky Board will not consider a request for modification or termination of the indefinite restriction order unless and until the Board has received an report recording her completion of an assessment at her own expense through the Vanderbilt Comprehensive Assessment Program for Professionals at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee, and has also received proof of her successful completion of the Medical Ethics courses, proof of payment of the Tennessee Board’s fine, and payment of the Kentucky Board’s costs of $500.
