On February 26, 2021, the Medical Board of California placed the license of psychiatrist Svetlana Anic on probation for a period of three years in lieu of revocation.

Anic is employed at Coalinga State Hospital, a state psychiatric facility.

The Board found that on multiple occasions Dr. Anic prescribed controlled substances for fictitious patients with the intent of obtaining the medication for her own use. She was cited for gross negligence, repeated negligent acts, dishonest and corrupt acts, prescribing to self or use in a dangerous manner, and general unprofessional conduct.

As part of the probation, Dr. Anic is to abstain from the use of alcohol and controlled substances; take courses in prescribing practices, medical record keeping and a professionalism program (ethics course); and submit to biological fluid testing and worksite monitoring for substance abuse.
