KidsPeace: Former Employee of Child Psych Facility Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault of Teen Resident

April 5, 2021

A former KidsPeace employee could serve more than two years in a state prison after pleading guilty Tuesday to sexually assaulting a 15-year-old resident of the North Whitehall Township facility.

Kharee J. Greene, 25, of King of Prussia will also be a registered sex offender under Megan’s Law for 15 years. He pleaded guilty before Lehigh County Judge Robert L. Steinberg to one count of institutional sexual assault.

Greene admitted that he kissed and groped the girl June 26, 2019, in a laundry room of the facility. Another teen resident of KidsPeace saw the pair go into the room, which is out of view of security cameras, and reported it to a counselor.

Greene, who had worked at KidsPeace for three months as a mental health care technician when the crime occurred, was fired when the allegations came to light. KidsPeace is a nonprofit that provides mental health services for children, including residential treatment programs and a psychiatric hospital.

He was questioned by state police shortly after the incident and admitted to the crime. His attorney, Philip Lauer, noted that Greene cooperated with authorities at every step of the investigation.

Greene has no prior criminal record. As part of a plea deal, his minimum sentence will be capped at six months in jail. He will be sentenced in June, following a presentence investigation, and remains free on $25,000 bail.
