Medical Board Reprimands Psychiatrist Ruth A. Schack

On September 28, 2018, the Medical Board of California issued an order reprimanding psychiatrist Ruth A. Schack.

According to the Board’s document, from approximately November 1, 2010 through May 13, 2013, Dr. Schack failed to properly document the reasons why she prescribe and discontinued psychotropic medications and why she increased and decreased their dosages; failed to properly document the reasons why she ordered repeated lab testing; and prescribed thyroid and testosterone without appropriate medical indications.

In addition to the reprimand, the Board required Dr. Schack to successfully complete, within 60 days of date of the order, a prescribing practices course, a remedial education course, a medical recordkeeping course, and a professional ethics course.
