Psychiatrist in Hawaii sexually assaulted dozens of students over three decades

November 28, 2017

Dr. Robert Browne, a psychiatrist in Hawaii to whom Kamehameha Schools sent middle and high school boys to for therapy from 1958 to 1985, sexually assaulted dozens of students. Brown committed suicide in 1991, a day after being confronted by one of his victims.

Last year, 34 victims filed a lawsuit regarding the abuse. The focus of the lawsuit is how much responsibility Kamehameha Schools and St. Francis Hospital (where Brown worked) should bear for the sexual assaults.

Hawaii News Now published an article detailing the victims' experiences at the hands of the psychiatrist.
