Pedophile UK doctor studying psychiatry loses medical license

October 12, 2017

Thomas Jenkins, a junior doctor who was in his second year of psychiatric training, had his medical license revoked after he was caught by an undercover police officer attempting to groom a 13-year-old boy.

Jenkins, 28, logged onto a gay dating app in March and asked Liam, who he thought was 13, for sex and exchanged sexually explicit messages and pictures.  "Liam" was actually an undercover police officer.  In court, Jenkins admitted to inciting a boy of 13 to engage in sexual activity.

At the time, Jenkins was in his second year of a foundation course in psychiatry.

The Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service agreed the conviction was so serious that "erasure from the medical register" was both necessary and proportionate to maintain public confidence.
