Coral Springs psychiatrist arrested for hit-and-run crash

August 3, 2017

A Coral Springs psychiatrist who is employed at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce fled from a crash on Florida’s Turnpike in Palm Beach County. The victim told police that a white Toyota Prius weaved aggressively through traffic and collided with him. A trooper found the damaged Prius in the hospital’s parking lot.

Simon denied being in a crash. She insisted the damage on her car was from hitting a rail inside of her garage at home. The trooper said he believes the evidence is consistent with the victim’s story. He could see red paint in the damaged area of the car that appeared to be spray-painted over. He said he could tell from the paint on the ground that the car had been painted where it was parked. He believes Simon used nail polish remover to take off red paint left from the victim's car.

Simon is charged with damaging property and destroying evidence. She was booked and released from the St. Lucie County Jail on $10,000 bond on July 31.
