Board suspends psychiatrist Saifullah Niazi for endangering patient welfare

April 24, 2014

On April 2, 2014, the Virginia Board of Medicine indefinitely suspended psychiatrist Saifullah K. Niazi for no less than 36 months for engaging in practices over an approximately two-year period  which endangered the health and welfare of his patients by aiding, abetting and permitting the unauthorized practice of medicine by his unlicensed employees, whom he allowed to see, observe and assess independently in their individual offices, to diagnose and prescribe to them, which Niazi would sign off on despite having not seen the patient or having merely seen them in some cursory fashion (such as passing in the hallway and saying “hi.”)
