State suspends counselor Charlotte Garnes following criminal conviction

On August 15, 2013, the Virginia Department of Health Professions suspended the license of counselor Charlotte Elizabeth Garnes.

This action was based on a criminal conviction: A District Court Judgment in US v. Garnes, dated July 30, 2013, shows that Garnes was found guilty of 10 counts of False Statements Relating to Health Care Matters, one count of Obstruction of Official Proceeding and one court Conspiracy to Commit Health Care Fraud, for which she was sentenced to 60 months in prison and was ordered to pay $792,814 in restitution and a $1,200 assessment.
