Psychologist Sunil Kakar placed on probation for drug-alcohol arrest

On June 18, 2013, the Washington Department of Health (DoH) placed psychologist Sunil K. Kakar on probation for at least five years.

The DoH’s findings of fact states that, among other things, Kakar was arrested in July 2011 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, possession of marijuana and use of drug paraphernalia.

Kakar negotiated a reduced charge and a 24 month stay of case on the condition that he have no new criminal convictions in that time.

Kakar received a substance abuse evaluation and was found to be cannabis and alcohol dependent and has agreed to sign a contract with the Washington Health Professionals Services program.
