State reprimands psychiatrist Amnon Kahane

On February 7, 2013, the Arizona Medical Board reprimanded psychiatrist Amnon Kahane. The Board’s document states that Kahane deviated from the standard of care by failing to complete a thorough psychiatric evaluation and follow-up; inappropriately prescribing lithium in a patient with significant contraindications; failing to monitor the patient’s lithium level, renal function and thyroid function and failing to recognize the patient’s need for a higher level of care.
