State suspends counselor George Menard for 30 months

April 17, 2009

The Washington Department of Health suspended registered counselor George Menard’s license for 30 months.  Menard, who also held Washington State registrations to practice as both an x-ray technician and a registered nurse, was working as a registered nurse at the inpatient treatment program for alcohol/mental health issues in June 2007 when he committed unprofessional conduct toward a female inpatient with whom he arranged a non-clinical private meeting during which he attempted to kiss the patient.  He also attempted to facilitate post-discharge contact with the patient at a local motel for a romantic meeting (which was subsequently cancelled and never occurred).  The state suspended his nursing registration earlier on.

(Stipulated Findings of Fact, Conclusions of Law and Agreed Order, in the Matter of George Medard, credential no. RC00048255 and XT00004574, No. M2008-117503 and No. M2008-117504, State of Washington Department of Health, April 17, 2009.)
