State charges psychiatrist Alan F. Scott with sex with patient over 15 years

March 14, 2013

On November 6, 2012, the Medical Board of California issued and Accusation against psychiatrist Alan Fulton Scott.

The Board’s document states that Scott, who was married with children, engaged a patient (“D.K.”), also married with children in a social and sexual relationship which continued throughout the 15 years that he treated her. D.K. did this despite knowing that D.K. had a history of sexual abuse.

The document states that he had D.K. clean his office in exchange for therapist sessions; that he admitted to D.K. that he had a sexual addiction and an addiction to pornography and had engaged in sex with several other patients; that he prescribed D.K. tranquilizers without conducting an examination or maintaining medical records and that he began a sexual relationship with another patient while still involved with D.K.
