A leading psychiatrist is being investigated by the Medical Board of Australia following complaints elicited through a campaign by Channel Seven news.

Professor Graham Burrows, who is  Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Melbourne,  is reported to be undergoing a performance review by the Medical Board of Australia as more than a hundred complaints were received by the Channel Seven News from former patients.

Allegations against Professor Burrows include over-medication, brief consultations of 30 seconds and conflict of interest involving pharmaceutical companies.

In one clip aired this week, the wife of a GP with depression who committed suicide while under the care of Professor Burrows claimed that he should have been hospitalised.
