October 2, 2007 Washington State suspends mental health counselor Flor Mari Crisostomo for “deviant sexual desires” |
|
On October 2, 2007, the Washington State Department of Health suspended the license of mental health counselor Flor Mari Crisostomo, based on allegations that she traded candy for sex with a 17-year-old boy who was an inmate of a county juvenile detention facility. Crisostomo is a University of Washington counselor who has worked with juveniles at the county detention center. The state’s suspension order stated that the 39-year-old Crisostomo is unable to control her “deviant sexual desires.” Seattle police have investigated the case as a statutory rape, although no charges have been made public and no arrest has been made.1 1 Daniel Lathrop, “Counselor’s license suspended in sex case,” Seattle Post-Intelligencer, 1 Oct. 2007. |
