In June 2007, the state of Illinois placed Maisha Hamilton's license to practice as a clinical psychologist in “refuse to renew” status for failing to file and/or pay Illinois state income taxes. Ms. Hamilton was convicted of Medicaid fraud and jailed for six months in January 2005. ¹
