California psychologist Preston B. Fields surrenders license following guilty plea to criminal sex charge

On May 7, 2007, psychologist Preston Brian Fields surrendered his license to the California Board of Psychology and may not seek reinstatement for three years. Mr. Fields pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of lewd conduct on February 6, 2006. Mr. Fields was found to have committed sexual abuse by exposing his penis to an 88-year-old patient of a nursing care facility where Mr. Fields delivered psychological services. In addition to his criminal conviction, the Board found Mr. Fields to have committed Sexual Abuse of a Patient, Use of License for Sex Crimes, Unprofessional Conduct and Gross Negligence.1
